In his letter to the Galatians, St. Paul writes: “Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Gal: 6:2). The loss of a loved one is indeed a heavy burden for families, and St. Michael Parish’s Funeral Ministry exists to help bear the burden and offer consolation.
The Church provides families at no cost a service for funerals, rite of committal at the burial site and a meal for family members. The service, at the family’s choice, may include a funeral Mass, Communion service or burial service at graveside. For a funeral Mass, Parish Staff provide a selection of readings that may be chosen for the Liturgy of the Word. If music is desired, the ministry can provide a list of recommended musicians who are available for a cost.
For information and to schedule a funeral service, contact the Parish Office at 806-894-2268. Families will be asked to coordinate arrangements with the Funeral Home.
St. Michael Parish is grateful for the Funeral Ministry Team who volunteers to provide and serve the family meal in the Parish Hall. This team is coordinated by Marina Castillo.
